(This is not really in reply to the above, but I deleted the parent.)

I myself use a prefix key, as in screen. I tried to use an emacs style
bindings for a while, but it was confusing me more than it was helping,
although I am very used to emacsâ keybindings.

Now I have everything for Ion mapped under ctrl-z. For example, ctrl-z
n goes to the (whatever its called) in a tabbed ion frame; ctrl-z
ctrl-n to the next workspace; ctrl-z shift-n to the next (right)
frame. Anyhow, it makes sense to me, and doesnât interfere except when
I want to suspend a program. Never really do that anymore, though.
I can send anybody who wants in the config files.
