Since your reasons include ease of use and support, git has a very,
very, very strong point. The bulk of most skillful hackers in open
source community (linux kernel), use it and update it.
Ease of use and kernel hackers don't exactly go hand-in-hand. :)
Also, I can point to dozens of emails the git developers posted about
how "broken" other OSes are, which is a perfectly valid way to feel as a
Linux developer, but it's a huge red flag if you're counting on
cross-platform support.
If it comes down to working around an annoying Windows quirk or not
supporting Windows, which do you think they'll do?
