Thanks Phil for y0u input. Your are right it's well documented that 
ip_filter sources are incomnpatible with later linux distributions and I 
think I said that.  

Now that we have the rant out of the way, I would like to say that I 
cannot believe that ip_filter cannot be ported to later Linux revisions. 
I do know that trying to do so is a MAJOR task 'cause I'm attempting to 
do it. So anyone willing to assist I would like to hear from them 
off-list.
