Hello

Actually I was going to ask almost same question but Murugappan was faster.

I have Solaris 8. I have only one hme0 or eri0 (depends on wks) available, configured and fully functional. And I also see same message from IPFilter and I am very curious about it.

Mar 25 01:46:05 local ipf: [ID 604323 kern.warning] WARNING: Unknown layer 2 header size for eri0 type 0

SunOS <hostname> 5.8 Generic_108528-18 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-100

bash-2.03# ifconfig -a
lo0: flags=1000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 8232 index 1
        inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
eri0: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 2
        inet aaa.bbb.ccc.113 netmask ffffff00 broadcast aaa.bbb.ccc.255
        ether aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff

We updated our kernels to 18 not long ago and I am not sure, but if I correctly remember - this messages appeared after patching. But that's not sure, as it can be that I missed that message earlier.

Hi,

You use Solaris 9 ?

Your interface hme1 is down and no ip address ?

If not view error msg, unplumb hme1 ?

Regard.
