Hi all,

I have a firewall running using IP filter version 3.4.30 on a
Solaris sparc box running Solaris version 9.

When I use a rule like

                rdr <interface> from <IP address 1> to any -> 0 port 0

the "0 port 0" is to say don't touch the packets (more or less like
a quick in ipf), but I see a lot of packets which hit the rule and are shown
in list of active sessions. How far does this affect the performance of
ipnat?

        Here's the machine network configuration:

        # ifconfig -a

        lo0: flags=1000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 8232
index 1
                inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000

        hme0: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500
index 2
                inet 203.197.143.79 netmask ffffffe0 broadcast
203.197.143.255
                ether 8:0:20:f8:fc:2b

        hme1: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500
index 3
                inet 192.168.2.200 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 192.168.2.255
                ether 8:0:20:b7:7c:76

Here's the ipnat rules and the corresponding list of active
sessions. I have highlighted the active sessions caused by the rule.

There are also a lot or rules that redirect traffic between the
internal interface like the one's highlighted in the list of active sessions
below. These contribute for most of the active sessions.

        # ipnat -l

Any suggestions to avoid this overhead?
