I'm not exactly sure myself about the system IPfilter is available for.
That's why I hoped someone more competent would contact you. This did
not happen, I gather, so I'll do my best. I'm copying the mailing list
in the hope someone will correct my blunders.

While INSTALL.Linux says "Linux is no longer supported.", it is from
2000. The FAQ http://www.phildev.net/ipf/IPFlinux.html#linux1 says "IPF
4.x runs on Linux." The Linux subdir in the distribution supports that.
I haven't tried myself, though.

OpenBSD is supported even though the project replaced IPFilter with pf.
See e.g. OpenBSD-3/README.3_5.

So this brings the platform list for the IPfilter tarball to
  FreeBSD, HP-UX, IRIX, Linux, NetBSD, OpenBSD, Solaris and Tru64
QNX and Darwin, I don't know about. http://www.qnxzone.com/ does not
respond.

The mailing list does not yield much about Darwin, see
