I dunno, but I just found out, that I CAN restore the iPad2 from my iPhone
4, but NOT from my iPad1... which is odd, since I want to have the iPad2
configured like the iPad1. This seems to have something to do with the
built-in cameras (own device category).

As far as backup-space is concerned: I always symlinked my iTunes library
and related directories on an external drive. That way I can swap out
machines as I wish, without caring about my backups, etc...

So maybe that's an idea for you too?
