to answer my own question: yes, when you click on the camera icon in Messages 
on my iMac (LION), it invokes FaceTime -
but in Messages on my iPad 2, theres's no icon to invoke FaceTime from a 
conversation even though my iPad 2 supports FaceTime.

I'm sure they'll fix that.
