One thing we can be sure of, there is no chance that native apps will be able to stream music or video over the network or that they will be able to interact in any but the simplest ways with the Quicktime/iPod software.
Apple has already proven with the current MobileSafari/Quicktime interaction that they are determined to protect their iTunes store revenue.
