I concur your opinion on iUI as well. It was written strictly for iPhone and tightly-coupled with certain naming conventions and usage pattern. It's a nice framework and you can get up and running quickly. But for any "non-standard" features/changes, you will need to seriously hack iUI, and thus your drastically different iUI variant. To me, if the code base is drastically different, it would be more sensible to make it a separate project/branch. I'm looking forward to see your implementation :)
