@David : "frameworks" are appropriate for what they are made for: easy and quick development. Exactly what you do when you use something like .Net and Java and Objective-C (Cocoa) and C++ (MFC...) and so on...
.Net is nice but you really should not use its AJAX framework for mobile device just because its implementation is the worst you can find (very huge files, heavy code...)
