Well, it takes some time to get readings at all - quite beyond the BIOS initialisation sequence. Since the BIOS itself hangs with the SIMSO+ plugged in, when you try to enter the Health MOnitor submenu, this is certainly an issue for Supermicro. I also don't like the arrangement of temperatures - you would not expect CPU1 coreB to be cooler than the box. > . if I plug in power for the first time, chassis power on doesn't work (if > >the > >system had been powered on for a short time, and switched off by ipmitool > >or power button, it works!) > > The chassis power commands may be routed to ACPI state changes which may > fail to work until it is pulled out of S0 the first time. Somehow, with another box, it works. And IMHO it doesn't make a lot of sense to have to go to the cluster room to press 500 power buttons if there has been construction at the electrical installation (which means wall power off). BTW, the web interface doesn't work either. > . (would one be able to overcome a lockout by removing the IPMI? to have "disabled" as default might be dangerous) Steffen -- Steffen Grunewald * MPI Grav.Phys.(AEI) * Am Mühlenberg 1, D-14476 Potsdam Cluster Admin * http://pandora.aei.mpg.de/merlin/ * http://www.aei.mpg.de/ * e-mail: steffen.grunewald(*)aei.mpg.de * +49-331-567-{fon:7233,fax:7298} No Word/PPT mails - http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/no-word-attachments.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
