Al,

I've been using pretty much the entire line of SuperMicro IPMI products
for the past year or so. I work for a dedicated server hosting company
with a few thousand SuperMicro servers all with some form of IPMI.

We started with the SuperMicro IPMI 2.0 products (APC-IPMI20 and
AOC-1UIPMI) in a variety of motherboards which worked great for power
control, reset, sensor data, and serial over lan. Lately, we have been
getting servers with the SuperMicro SIM line of IPMI cards (SIMSO and
SIM1U). The SIM line has all the IPMI 2.0 features plus KVM over IP.
The KVM over IP is better than most, if not all, of the external KVM
over IP solutions I've seen.

As far as compliance with the 2.0 spec, I haven't tested against the
entire spec, but the SuperMicro cards have done everything we've asked
them to. To Duncan's and the other contributor's credit, ipmitool has
worked great with the SuperMicro cards.

I hope this hasn't sounded too much like a commercial, but I am pleased
with the IPMI cards from this manufacturer.

Regards,
Nathan Day
