The SOL for IPMI 1.5 is a different (OEM) protocol, whereas SOL for IPMI
2.0 is in the spec.
Intel supplies a CLI rpm to support SOL with the S*WV2 platforms (dpccli
console command).
I didn't think that ipmitool supported IPMI 1.5 OEM SOL.

Subject: [Ipmitool-devel] isol tutorial

Hello,

I have two Intel-based servers with SE7501WV2 motherboards, which
support IPMI v1.5.
And I set up ipmi-over-lan and I can successfully reboot/read
fru/sensors/so on, bu please explain how can I use remote serial console
with them?
Basically, I do the same things I did before with Tyan IPMI v2.0 SMDC,
i.e. setting up password, network settings, enabling getty on serial
ports -- but for some reasons I can't reach serial console.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ipmitool -I lan -H ipmi.barrel.internal -E isol info
Enabled : true
Privilege Level : USER
Bit Rate (kbps) : 19.2

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ipmitool -I lan -H ipmi.barrel.internal -E isol activate
[SOL Session operational. Use ~? for help]
Error sending SOL data
SOL session closed by BMC

on barrel.internal I have getty up and running

30739 ttyS0 Ss+ 0:00 /sbin/getty -L ttyS0 19200 vt100
30740 ttyS1 Ss+ 0:00 /sbin/getty -L ttyS1 19200 vt100

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ipmitool -V
ipmitool version 1.8.9

It's Debian version with isol patch applied, see
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=412816

Thanks in advance.
