This is probably fine under most circumstances.  Root users have the
opportunity to the change the SDR, which is why I check timestamps.  But
this is not typical in most environments.

I actually check the binary value of the date (coming off the wire), not
the presentable date.  You could just do a diff to see if the timestamp
has changed??
