I disagree with both of these things and generally agree with Dave
Thaler's previous note on this subject. The sin6_scope_id specifies the
link, site, organization, etc. depending on the scope of the multicast
address.
The binding of a multicast address to socket by an application should be
independent of the joining of a multicast group on a particular interface.
