Why
would a firewall allow those ports if they were not already in
use?

Any word on
if IM will be able to run a different ports in the future? Being able to run on
ports like 8080 or 8383 will make it easier for those to connect that can not
change firewall settings to allow 5177 to pass through. Many firewalls already
have 8080 or 8383 open. Or this would allow the client to adjust the settings as
needed per installation.
