i was already drafting a mail pointing out that the only part of your
mail he didn't quote was the one that deflated his entire attack on you.
i don't always agree with your proposals and suggestions, but please
continue to stick up for yourself when this happens. i didn't have enough
time in the day to do so when it was done to me.

seriously. his replies to my mails were so misquoted i barely recognized
them as my own, my examples were extended to such stupid extremes (see
also: strawman) that i couldn't believe a networking professional would
even consider drawing such conclusions from those examples, and in general
my mails were returned with such hostility that i wonder if Mr. Massar's
purpose here is trying to achieve consensus or simply trying to detract
anyone from participating who doesn't share his own opinion.

i must admit, going on the RIR mailing lists and screaming "this is an
IETF problem, leave it alone" and then going to IETF mailing lists
screaming "this is a RIR problem, leave it alone" makes for a very
compelling and potentially successful technique.
