This needs a clarification. DS-MIPv6 (RFC 5555) is an extension of MIPv6. Raj's email makes it appear like it is an alternate mobility management protocol. It is not. It allows a MIPv6 mobile node to bind an IPv4 Care-of Address to an IPv6 Home Address, when the mobile node find itself on an IPv4-only access network. It has a few other extensions, but not relevant to this discussion.
