Yeah, Bjarne Mjlede has one of his Iriver mp3's set up with a 30 second buffer via 3rd party Rockbox software.
You can also do this in your PC via Total Recorder if that's an option. I simply hate the thought of having the recorder running continuously as I'm messy enough with the audio clips I have right now!
