Awesome !! If I logged County Sound Radio here or in Grafton, I'd consider it my best catch ever from the midwest. Fri night in Grafton I had a decent carrier there when the Brits peaks around 0410 but I think it needed about 5 dB more for some audio. I wish I could have stayed in Grafton (better for TA's than here and much quieter) to compare TA's with you guys but this is a work week I really cannot take off.
Your northerly waterpath certainly is useful for TA's. I'd do whatever I could to enhance my antennas for the NE to N directions if I were you. Re: France..I have logged 1278 before but wasn't able to drum up audio yet this season. Your 1494 is likely France if // the many France Infos, and Corsica if // France Bleu (864 Paris ..but you are likely creamed by CFPR) Holland 1395 was my only new TA of last weekend other than a special catch and reco for you to be detailed later. I couldn't get any clean audio from unneeded 1008, but CFRB Is really strong on 1010. Re:Germany DLF 1269 was really nice Saturday night (do you have trouble from 1270 ?) Spains to look for are also 1413 (surprisingly good at times) and 1305 was good at times as was 1314. 1602 Spain is also surprisingly easy. Most normally is Vitoria which plays lots of mx, but a couple years ago in a super Spanish opening I had SER under them. I couldn't get clean audio from unneeded Belgium on 1512 like many of you, but did have 927 in with my WOKY local on 920 phased (I was smart to buy north of Milwaukee so on TA antennas, they are backend and phasable w/out phasing the TA sigs) 1503 I had Spain later. You should look for the UK local that relays 5 Live overnight. I suspect Iran's signal was also there on Friday which was a good mideast night. 1521,1512,1575,1431, 1584 and maybe the 1539 het was mideast as well. But I have never managed to pull any audio on 1503 from Iran so the country goes unheard. If you can phase null KFBK 1530 at your distance, it is worthwhile to look for Vatican. I had their IS thru semi-phased WCKY at 0345 on Saturday. There was some eurolang talk and they run many langs at that time and use 1 IS between prgms. http://www.radiovaticana.org/en1/FM93_3_ing.asp is the sked for 1530 during the times we can hear them. To listen to that online go here http://www.radiovaticana.org/en1/diretta.asp and click on channel 2. 73 and good luck...KAZ in awe of your County Sound 1566 ----- Original Message ----- From: "WALTER SALMANIW" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, September 17, 2007 5:59 PM Subject: Re: [IRCA] TA's on the West Coast - Sept 17th (UTC) Hi everyone It’s Walt, Chuck, and Bruce with the first night’s DX from the Queen Charlotte Islands. We have Beverages pointed at Asia and Australia, a 300’ north-south wire, and an outdoor loop that can be used for DUs or TAs depending on how it’s configured. TA’s last night were absolutely amazing, with audio on too many channels to count. The best catch was Country Sound Radio on 1566, listed as 750 watts! Many Spanish, French, British, and German stations were quite strong. 1053 Britain was almost local quality at times, with other UK stations noted on 909 1089 1341 and 1215. French stations on 1206 1377 1278 and 1557 were all quite loud at times. They, along with stations like DLF-1422 and Holland-1395 were often stronger than adjacent channel domestics. Spain took over as time went on, with audio on 684 999 1044 1215 1485(Cadena SER) 1116 954 1224 and maybe a few others. A few other logs: Holland-1008, Belgium-1512, Germany-1017, Iceland-189. There were plenty of unids that will bear watching the rest of the week: 1251 981 (in Arabic, probably Algeria) 1584 1503 1494 531 1314 and many others. It took a while to finish setting up after dinner, so we missed whatever opening there might have been to eastern Europe and the Middle East, but last night was certainly a good start to put it very mildly. TPs this morning were plentiful, but not impressive. Mostly, we heard the usual assortment of Japanese, Chinese and Korean stations that have been heard during previous expeditions at Grayland and the QCI’s. Hopefully, things will be better tomorrow. ----- Original Message ----- From: Neil Kazaross <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Sunday, September 16, 2007 8:47 pm Subject: Re: [IRCA] TA's on the West Coast - Sept 17th (UTC) To: Mailing list for the International Radio Club of America <[email protected]> > Nicely done but time in 0328 and if you have a 2 to 3 Khz SAH > look for Spain > as they are at least as good here as Virgin even on northerly > antennas that > would favor UK over Northern Spain... 73 KAZ Grafton > WI/Barrington IL > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Patrick Martin" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "Mailing list for the International Radio Club ofAmerica" > <[email protected]> > Sent: Sunday, September 16, 2007 10:30 PM > Subject: Re: [IRCA] TA's on the West Coast - Sept 17th (UTC) > > > > At 0828 the British ancr said something about One million > dollars?
