Folks,

After the Definitions Committee approved their first wave of radios
acceptable as ultralight radios for use in records, awards, contests,
etc., I expected to be flooded with submissions for Firsts and
Records. Not so in the first three or four days........ I've received NONE!

Possibly I've confused people with rhetoric (not the first time for
this old professor, I assure you.) The Firsts and Records are
intended be a record of DX achievement with ANY of the approved
Ultralight Radios. For the first month, we only accepted (for the
list) loggings made with the SRF-59, because we were unsure of just
which other small radios would eventually be approved. From the
beginning, we were committed to accepting ANY logging made with any
approved radio. For instance, the loggings with Sony-M37Vs from
November or December 2007 would be considered RETROACTIVELY for
Firsts or Records as soon as the Committee acted.

What I may have not made clear was that there is just one list, with
two categories of receivers: ultralight radios used BAREFOOT
or ultralight radios that have been (Super) MODIFIED. So, some
receptions that are currently listed may be very well be lost. For
instance: the current overall DX distance record is :

5201 miles Gary DeBock, Puyallup, WA HLCA-972, Dangjin, South
Korea(Seoul) 11/22/2007(SRF-59)

The First for Trans Pacific Reception is also held by our Founder, Gary DeBock:

Gary DeBock, Seattle, WA JOIB-747 Sapporo, Japan, 11/20/2007 (SRF-59)

Well, if Dennis Vroom, about 100 miles to Gary's south, had received
either of those stations on his M-37V BEFORE late November, his
logging would totally erase both Gary's First (Dennis was earlier)
and Gary's distance record (Dennis is about 100 miles further from
those stations)

So, if you have kept a decent log of DXing with an Ultralight model
that has now been approved and if you think a particular reception
might qualify for one of the Records or Firsts.... PLEASE submit them
for consideration!
