Thanks, Scott!  I hadn't seen this message when I posted my previous 
message, but it looks like we've converged on the same solution. :-)
I think it's time to lay this one gently to rest!  It's not a new one 
here anyway - I logged WPLY (with a dual WPLY/WVPO ID) back in Feb. 
2007.
