I guess I have a different look on it. My feeling is we have way too
many stations on the air in the US anyway. We do not need thousands of
stations that few listen to. There  always will be a station or two in
every market. Just not 10 stations which we do not need. If some go bye
bye, well then they were not solid enough to make it anyway. Hiring some
school kid to ride herd at minimum wage over night is going to bankrupt
a station? Well, if the station is that weak then they should not be on
the air period. I was for the old rules of a station having a year or
two worth of $$$ to operate. Clatsop Country did quite well with 3 AM
stations on the air for years. It had no issues. Face it, so many
stations do not even serve the locals. All they run is satellite
programming 24/7.
