Colin..if I may chime in here. 1) Congrats !!
2) The E-1 is a fine rx, but for any kind of serious MW DX it needs an
external antenna rather than its noise grabbing omni whip.
I use the E-1 here with whatever Phased BOG system I decide to use..either
temporary ones aimed wherever..or my mainstay long ones along the northern
edge of my land aimed about 273 deg.
The E-1 for domestic DX with an external antenna can get about 99% of what
the R8A can get with the same antenna system.
For foreign DX, the E-1 can pull in splits, but the R8A is somewhat better
at it as the filters seem to be a bit better, IMHO.
73 KAZ suggesting that if you're limited to indoor antennas you use some
kind of loop with that E-1
