Hello All, For those with interest in fanatical antenna experimentation, a file describing the TP and TA-DXing receptions using a 9-foot sided PVC box loop has been uploaded to the "Antenna" section of the ULR file section on dxer.ca, at the following link: _http://www.dxer.ca/file-area/cat_view/87-ultra-light-radio-files-area/97-ul r-antennas_ (http://www.dxer.ca/file-area/cat_view/87-ultra-light-radio-files-area/97-ulr-antennas) With links to MP3's of 16 memorable TP (and 5 TA) receptions during the 2009 season, these recordings document the experimental success in building lightweight PVC frames for tuned passive loops, thereby allowing much larger sizes (and resulting gain) than the traditional 4 or 5 foot wooden-frame box loops. While these monster loops are strictly outdoor creations and are not suitable for everyone, the resulting DX gain proved to be fascinating, and despite a very modest DXing location provided TP reception similar to that at ocean beach locations. For those with a generous back yard (and understanding neighbors), these huge loops may be a nice option! 73, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA) _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca
