Hello All, The TP conditions seemed mediocre for most of the week, but because of the very interesting reports from Nigel and Nick yesterday, I thought I would tune in to see if the great signals would show up south of the border. Sure enough, this morning was the best for TP propagation all week, and even included what will probably be my last new TP during this 2009 season. First checking the band around 1430, I found 1134-CNR1 all alone on 1134 khz, very strong just like Nigel had reported. This linked MP3 was from a little later, but CNR1 had this signal for most of the morning. _http://www.mediafire.com/?5gtmm3ky1qz_ (http://www.mediafire.com/?5gtmm3ky1qz) The second big surprise was checking 594 khz, and hearing the KBS1 Korean music station tearing up JOAK pretty badly, like in this MP3 where it slowly takes over the frequency: _http://www.mediafire.com/?jzmmmjryjzt_ (http://www.mediafire.com/?jzmmmjryjzt) Finally, just after 1500, the long-sought 1503 kHz NHK1 station JOUK came up to weak audio, but strong enough to check the 594 kHz // (which was still trying to claim the frequency over the pesky Korean). This was my first new TP on the 7.5 foot "nasty weather" PVC loop (operating in the rainy back yard this morning), and Ultralight TP #116 overall. So it was really a great morning, and I should thank both Nigel and Nick for the great DX tips from yesterday. Without motivation from them, I probably would have written off this late-November band as hopeless. 73, Gary DeBock Spotting receiver: Modified ICF-2010 (30" loopstick) Main receiver: Modified C.Crane SWP (7.5" Slider loopstick + CFJ455K5 filter) 7.5' and 6' (side) "Nasty Weather" PVC tuned passive loops (in the wet back yard) _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca
