You should probably start looking now until early April Stephen. HLAZ has been heard from San Diego, though any logging I recall predates IBOC, so KMIK could hinder reception somewhat. You may need to wait until KMIK is in daylight for best chance. India? Be sure to let us know if you hear it; I'm pretty sure it's not been logged in your area on 1566 using any combination of receiver and antenna.

Or would the IBOC from 1580 KMIK, which is 50kW from 300 miles east of me with a directional antenna pointed right at me, render the frequency unusable? (I haven't been able to log HLAZ from S Korea, either, which is on the same frequency.) On the other hand, though, I was able, one time this past fall, to receive 594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan, in spite of being only 7.7 miles east of IBOC-spewing 5kW 600 KOGO, using a PL-380 and Select-A-Tenna, so I guess anything's possible? Also when should I start checking for more ULR TPs - when does the spring season get underway? -- Nick Hall-Patch Victoria, BC _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
