On 1520, doesn't KOKC also have to fight 1530 KFBK Sacramento's IBOC?  Or do
they not blast as much of a signal toward you as they do toward me?   KFBK is a
monster signal here at night, and only a few skywave signals are equal or
stronger.  One of those is the Disney outlet near Phoenix, 1580 KMIK Tempe,
AZ.  They have a HUGE lobe toward me, and have on occasion actually been as
strong as (if not stronger than) my local 5kW on 600 at 8 miles, 50kW (night)
on 690 at 32 miles, 5kW (day pattern) on 910 at 9 miles, 2.9kW (night) on 1170
same site as 910 and 1kW on 1360 at 8 miles.  Using the Select-A-Tenna and a
utility pole ground wire, I've actually been able to get them to display 91
dBuV relative signal strength on my Tecsun PL-606 (not sure if you're familiar
with that model or other SiLabs Si4734-based DSP radios), a level for which I
likely need to be within 1/4 mile or closer to the transmitter site to get that
with the built-in ferrite bar
antenna.  Even the 2nd harmonic can be read here with that antenna setup.  I'm
even suspecting the 91 dBuV isn't the highest it would achieve here - a local
on 1470, whose signal 1580 has often eclipsed, is displaying 96 dBuV with the
SAT+groundwire, and was starting to overload. (98dBuV is the max the radio will
normally display, although I've gotten it to display 99 a few fleeting times,
by sweeping a signal generator across it and catching it right on a DSP chip
sensor refresh.  With extremely strong signals (usually upper 80s dBu and
stronger), when first tuning to a signal it will show a very high reading then
snap down to a lower reading which it holds, as in this example.)

The calls on 1520 are KOKC now, but I have a habit of calling a station
under their old historic calls. But KOKC -OK City has a monster lobe in
my direction and has always been dominant here at night. I get
KFAQ-Tulsa, the old KVOO too, but KOKC is stronger. KFAQ has to fight
the KSL IBOC besides.
