Russ, I never heard Alaska when I was listening from Iowa 50-53 but did
get 6 Hawaiians and 1 (4YA) from New Zealand.
Frequency checks & equipment tests by new stations made dxing totally
addictive.

Yes, 950 ID was KDSH, but that was before I was DXing. There
were a
bunch of freq changes back in the 60s & 70s, when some
of the old
stations moved to clear channels and boosted to 50KW. Wasn't
KTWO on
1410? Without checking, I seem to have them QSL'd on a
regional.
