My first day back after being away was not very interesting.
Faint bits of audio from presumed VOA on 1575, and rather uninspiring
carriers elsewhere was about it. Like Colin, I seem to detect a
non-scientific correlation, in my case conditions generally show a
marked improvement when I leave town. The good news (for others), is
that work will have me out of town again on Thursday.
