One is tempted to assume major US stations are the ones exactly on-frequency,
but not necessarily. Each could be off to one side or the other, and the XE
opposite.

By ear I can sometimes decide whether a station is low or hi if I can isolate
it and by stepping 10 kHz on the DX-398, with BFO at default offset, detect a
slightly higher or lower pitch compared to several adjacent frequencies. But 1
or 3 Hz is not really enough difference, for me, anyway. Get up to 10 Hz or
more and there is a noticeable difference. But still this is all relative
rather than absolute..

 Glenn,

I like your method of calculating the offses, haha! Now
the question is, are they high or low?

hourtop, no NA, 1203 finally ID as ``La Poderosa`` and again
at 1205, more music. Making SAH of 76/minute = 1.27 Hz with
WLW roughly opposite. So XEGD in Hidalgo del Parral,
Chihuahua has decided to modulate with something other than
hum as 24 hours ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

105.7 & XEDE AM, 0458 NA, mixing WGN with SAH of
192/minute = 3.2 Hz. No sign of the real KSAH at the moment.
