Opening crime headlines punxuated by dramatic music. Refers to XEROK being on a (once) clear channel, canal libre. Still dominant with virtually zero-beat KQCV OKC nulled, close to 90 degrees away. No scratchy QRM noted from Pato Donaldo, XEDD Montemorelos NL until 1225 check (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1693, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** MEXICO. 810, Oct 28 at 1208 UT, Spanish news from N/S, 6:08 TC, ad and deportes; no sign of WHB. Presumably XEFW in Tampico, already back on CST, rather than XERI Reynosa in the same direxion, which must still be stuck another week on US CDT. I`ve always found it strange that Tamaulipas should have two 810 stations, especially when one of them is 50 kW along the coast. NRC Pattern Book shows both non-direxional. Then there are lots of other XEs on 810 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** MEXICO. 820, Oct 30 at 1239 UT, ballad, then 6:39 TC, ``Radio ---algo--- Occidente`` ID as 89.3 FM. No problem from WBAP which was in a fade, then back up but still nullable. That nails it as per Cantú: 820 XEUDO Radio UdeO (Univ de Occidente) + FM 89.3 Los Mochis, Sin. 1,000 250 Except, Sinaloa should now be on MST = UT -7, i.e. 5:39 am, per http://www.worldtimezone.com/time-mexico12.php Maybe automation had not been reset? During the 1218 minute, two timechex as 6:17. Live YL announcer, like me, has some hum on her mike, goes away with music. Come on: odd-year anniversaries, especially prime numbers, are hardly significant, but in much of LA, every single anniversary is celebrated, rather than multiples of 5s, 10s or 25s. La Voz de la Sierra Tarahumara, Guachochi, Chihuahua (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** MEXICO. 900, Oct 28 at 1214 UT, newscast originating remotely from ``Huatulco``, (Wiki: Huatulco, centered on the town of La Crucecita, is a tourist development in Oaxaca state``), temps around south / central Mexico but not the north, refers to 88.9, time at 1215 as ``seis y cuarto``; federal PSAs including CNDH. Somewhat overmodulated. 1217 CCI grows from another SS with news by YL. The latter could really be XEW, but the former, as in DXLD 13-38, already researched and traced the 88.9 relayer to XEOK, Acir in Monterrey NL (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** MEXICO. 900, Oct 31 at 1226 UT, XEOK Monterrey, with feature report about ballet, overmodulated and somewhat distorted, typical of this station, 1229 non-ID as ``Es 900 AM`` (really???), 1230 ``reporte de tráfico y clima en 88.9``, 6:33 TC. It`s the relay of 88.9 in México DF as if anyone in Monterrey cared about traffic jams there. DF (direxion finding) fits for MTY, a bit west of due south (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** MEXICO. 970, Oct 27 at 1225 UT, XEJ Juárez slogans as ``La estación de nuestro México``, then ``La Jota mexicana``, and a corrida about a Chihuahua general in 1920; good usually dominant signal (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** MEXICO. 1300, Oct 27 at 1235 UT, XEP Juárez with international bridge backup delay times --- one only 5 minutes now. This is a staple of XEP, during drive time, or all the time? At 1237 reminds us the local time is still ``6:35``, not 5:35 as Mexico beyond the border cities has reverted to standard time today: hora normal no aplica en la frontera for another week, in deference to wacky US change date and all the Mexicans who travail across the border (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** MEXICO. 2910, Oct 27 at 1140, very poor signal with music, no doubt XEVT Villahermosa, Tabasco, 970 x 3. It takes superb conditions with low noise level for anything from this to be more readable. Trans-Atlantic carriers, Oct 29: on caradio hearing strong 1-kHz het on 910, at 0120, so as soon as I am back on the porch with DX-398, full scan finds all these past 0130, not necessarily in this order: 531, 585, 603, 693, 774, 783, 873, 882, 909, 954, 1044, 1053, 1089[off-frequency, birdie?], 1151, 1215, 1377, 1494, 1521. Another check inside with the DX-398 at 0554-0600: 549, 684[vs WSCR IBOC], 693, 774, 882, 891, 909, 954, 1044, 1053, 1152, 1215 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) UNIDENTIFIED. TA carrier search Oct 30 at 0048-0053: 549, 693, 774, 783, 792[vs WBBM IBOC], 873, 882, 891, 909, 1152, 1206, 1215, 1377, 1422, 1521, 1557. Mark Connelly pointed out that by accumulated power, my previous log of 774 would most likely be the RNE Spain synchros adding up to some 400 kW (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) UNIDENTIFIED. TP carrier search Oct 25: after finding 2-7 MHz from Asia propagating poorly today, did not expect any on MW, but there they are: usual JBA carriers at 1203-1205: 693, 747, 774, 972, likely Japan and Korea South. Today`s sunrise here not until 1248. WWV fembot reported at 1318: 10/24 flux 161(!), Ap 9 (? Not sure due to a fade/distortion and poor enunciation of the fembot who refuses to repeat the numbers even tho there is plenty of time to do so! Back to e-mail from WWV: it was 3); K at 12 was 0. Past 24 hours: R3 blackout; next 24 hours: minor, G1 storm and R1 blackout (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) UNIDENTIFIED. TP carrier search Oct 26 at 1151-1157: JBA on 594, 693, 747, 774, 882, 972, 1143. 774 and 972 are slightly stronger than the others. I decided to sit on 972 at 1200 trying to detect a S Korean timesignal, but inconclusive (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) UNIDENTIFIED. TP carrier search Oct 27 at 1157: JBA on 702 from south of due west; 774 from northwest. 702 presumably 2BL Sydney NSW, whose true bearing is 251 degrees at 13860 km [date correct, overlooked for previous report] (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) UNIDENTIFIED.
