Must admit I had to check the date on my recordings after seeing
Walt's and Colin's reports. Things were mildly Asian here before
1400UT, mildly DU afterwards, except for, ahem, 4QN-630 which was
stronger than 4QR-612 at 1400UT.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
it wasn't really that sort of morning
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
612 4QR "it's all about ABC radio" by woman 1418UT, strengthening to
this level 1420UT w/DU English man //594, and 612 (in spite of lack
of DST in Queensland).
774 JOUB woman in Japanese 1348UT //828
828 JOBB woman in Japanese 1349UT //774
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:
531 unID DU English teletalk 1422UT
594 JOAK woman in Japanese 1348UT faded down somewhat around 1400UT,
but never really yielded to anything else until near 1420UT
594 3WV man in DU English //702 and 612 1420UT
630 4QN "ABC news" after fanfare 1400UT, mixing with domestics, but
near dominant. Flag doing its work.
873 JOGB woman in Japanese //828 1351UT
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)
621 3RN? hints of ABC fanfare 1400UT; big carrier, bigger 620 splash
639 DU English sounding teletalk not parallel with anything, 891,
702, 612; 1409-10UT
675 DU English sounding man 1402UT, not //612
702 2BL various times, but never very strong in splash
774 3LO rock mx //702 1407UT, but 828 was still JOBB
792 man talking, DU English inflection 1413UT
864 quiet vocal music 1349UT
891 man mumbling in a DU English sort of way 1413UT
909 woman talking, DU English 1402UT
972 pop music 1356UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter) lots of near audio here
