I fly several times a year with a bag full of radios (usually two Tecsun PL380s, five C. Crane Witnesses, etc.), recorders, a DSLR and a laptop.
I've never been asked to turn any of them on. Often they don't even open the bag. Having said that - I have TSA PreCheck status tied to my NEXUS border card. I understand there are some new procedures going into place in the non-PreCheck lanes.
