LITTLE KHALIFAH SCIENTIST CLASS Assalamualaikum parents,
Insya Allah, in collaboration with The Signs Lab, the Little Khalifah Scientist Class will be held from 18th to 22nd December 2006. This is a class where kids will come and learn about science and develop the scientist in them with the skills and desire to contribute positively to the world and humanity for the sake of Allah s.w.t. If your children have difficulties understanding science in school, this is a program for them. Kids will be able to do 3 experiments per module as listed below if they sign up for the class. Schedule is as follows:- 18th December 2006 (Ages 9-13) - Young Scientist Program 19th December 2006 (Ages 6-9) - Young Scientist Program for younger children 20th December 2006 (Ages 9-13) - Chemically Yours 21st December 2006 (Ages 13-15)- It’s Electric 22nd December 2006 (Ages 9-13)- Gas Mania *********************************************************************** Fee is RM65 per day per child including good food. Below are the details of the program. As this program involves external party, we need you to register and pay before 12th December 2006 as we need to make payment to The Signs Lab by 13th December 2006. Please contact us at 03-41472626 or 03-41471542 or email at [EMAIL PROTECTED] to register. Thank you. Roslinah Daud The Little Khalifah Shop Young Scientist Learning practical scientific skills have been so fun….and delicious! This module gives the student a hands-on opportunity to learn and practice scientific process skills as they enjoy yummy snacks. a) Cookies Predictions A delicious and enjoyable way to learn about the basic scientific skill of prediction. This lesson emphasizes the importance of gathering some information before coming up with a prediction before experimentation. Scientific Process Skills: observation, prediction, presentation, number relation, measurement, space/time relation, communication. b) Noodle Graph Although graph-making is one of the most important factors in recording scientific data, many students find this most tedious and least interesting lesson in science. With Noodle Graph, student will be chewing on noodles and graph-making with glee. Scientific Process Skills: Gathering information, constructing and interpreting a graph, communication. c) My Ice Cream A delicious way to learn about freezing point depression. Participants discover how variables affect the experiment’s outcome, and see for themselves the value of hard work in reaching their goals. Scientific Process Skills: Identifying variables, observation, measurement, experimentation, recoding and communication Chemically Yours After this lesson, children will never think the same way about chemistry again. The word ‘chemistry’ become synonymous to ‘fun’ and ‘exciting’. a) Blue Blob Students get to create, play and observe giant molecule chains called polymers. This gooey, sticky experiment is a sure way to get kids excited. Slime balls make chemistry synonymous to fun. The best part is that the student can take home their slime and continue experimenting with it at home. Scientific Process Skills: observation, documentation, experimentation. b) Blast Off! A lesson that elicits a lot of wow! And whoa! Participants can see for themselves how mixing certain substance can produce kinetic energy. Scientific Process Skills: observation, experimentation. c) Chemistry Bag A basic lesson in titration. Participants will enjoy observing changes in their chemistry bag, definitely a bagful of fun! Scientific Process Skills: titration, observation, experimentation. It’s Electric! a) Secret Messages Participants learn about electric circuits and an alternative means of communication: using and deciphering the Morse Code. A practical lesson that participants will find useful even in adulthood. Skills: connecting the circuits, using Morse code for communication. b) The Conductors Participants will find it exciting testing colas, juices, isotonic drinks, etc., to find out which one is the best conductor. Scientific Process Skills: observation, prediction, experimentation c) Clothespin Alarms Participants use their knowledge of circuit to design a basic burglar or rain alarm. Scientific Process Skills: Planning, experimentation, observation. Gas Mania This fun, hands-on module on gases not only teaches students about its properties, but also about potential and kinetic energy, and liquid-gas mixtures. a) Cool Carbon Dioxide Participants not only learn about fire safety, they also get to make their own fire extinguisher! Scientific Process Skills: Observation, experimentation, cooperation. b) Balloon Jets It’s a race! An exciting lesson that demonstrates how compressed air could exert a force to propel an object. Students learn about potential and kinetic energy. Scientific Process Skills: analysis, experimentation. c) Jumping Raisins A fun experiment that elicits a lot of giggles and laughter. Participants find out about the factors that make it possible to make a gas and liquid mixture. -- The Little Khalifah Shop...Your Gateway to Total Khalifah Experience -- Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com
