MY JOURNEY IN SEARCH OF THE TRUTH
March 21, 2011 by mthago
Although I was once a member of worldwide tarikat group CLICK or popularly
known
as Jamat Tabligh but now I am no longer the member of the group. I do not think
I will ever join the group again, although many members of the group are having
a very high hope that one day I will return back to the group. Many members of
the group particularly in Malaysia are having profound love towards me and they
are hoping that one day I will be joining back the group. Once I was one of
their leaders in Malaysia and I was regarded by many in the group as the gem of
Malaysian’s Tabligh Jamat. I was one of their most outspoken leaders who often
gave fiery lectures that help to arouse their desires to give sacrifice in the
work of Tabligh Jamat. I was their leaders and in order for me to be convinced
that the work of this Tarikat group has the capability in transforming Muslims
to become good Muslims, I gave my utmost sacrifice, ability and capability to
this tarikat group. During the last thirty years I was with the group, I have
never missed to give my annual 40 days, my monthly three days and two and a
half
hours daily in the activities of the mosque. Every day I was always in the
mosques and in the last thirty years of my life, I always perform my 5 times
daily prayer with congregation in the mosques. I knew in my heart that this
Tabligh Jamat is not the work of the Prophet saw but when I compare to all the
other Islamic religious movement, Tabligh Jamat is the closest to the work of
the Prophet saw. After I was involved in this Tarikat Group for nearly twenty
years, I started to analyse myself and others in the group. I was wondering
whether since the past 20 years I was involved in the Tarikat Group, I had
become a better person or otherwise. When I observed those who had involved in
the work longer than me, I do not observe the behaviours of a religious person
that I had expected. When I look at my own self, I also do not have the
religious behaviours that I should had after joining the Tarikat group for
nearly twenty years. I told to myself that I would not like to be any worse
than
I am now in the next twenty years. I was puzzled and seriously in deep thought
on how the work should be done in order I can become a better person in the
next
twenty years to come. A person will become better day by day when his or her
iman keep on increasing day by day. I started to wonder in the last twenty
years
I was with Tabligh Jamat whether my iman increasing, decreasing or remain the
same.
How to increase our iman? Many peoples talk about the importance of iman but
not
many people talk or write about the work that will increase our iman. Many
peoples in the tarikat group says that to increase iman one has to make more
sacrifices in the so call path of Allah, that is by spending 40 days or 4
months
and some peoples in the tarikat group says that to increase iman, one has to
give more dakwah on the greatness of Allah or to talk more about the greatness
of Allah and to listen more to the greatness of Allah and to see more the
greatness of Allah. On the other hand many religious scholars say that to
increase iman one has to read more Quran, perform solat and make abundant
remembrance of Allah while others say to increase iman one has to have
knowledge
and then to have amals and then only the iman will increased. It seems to me
that, Muslims all over the world in general are not very sure on how to
increase
their iman and this really surprised me. When we look at the amals of the
Muslims it certainly shows that Muslims all over the world generally have a
very
weak iman. No one seems to know how to increase their iman. It is a real
tragedy
when Muslims do not know how to increase the very important and basic qualities
that all and each Muslims must have. It is great shame to the entire humanities
that we do not know how to increase our iman. In this situation, where should I
turn to, in order to know how to increase iman? Certainly I have to turn to
Allah ad His Prophet saw. In other words, I have to turn to the Quran and Hadis
in order to know the truth.
Allah has created men and certainly only Allah and His Prophet s.a.w. knows on
how men can become a better person. I have asked and cried for a guidance from
Allah. I have prayed to Allah so that He will show me the correct work to
increase iman. With the grace of Allah I had came to understand from one Hadis
that Allah will renew our iman when we frequently recite the great Kalimah.
When
I tried to talk abundantly about the Great Kalimah, I found my iman did not
renew or increase. I knew, the Hadis of Prophet Muhammad saw must be right and
why my iman did not increase when I talked abundantly about the Kalimah. It
came
to my mind that it must be the way I talk about the Great Kalimah was wrong. In
order my iman to be renewed or increased, the way I must talked about the Great
Kalimah must be the same way as Prophet Muhammad saw did.
Instead of giving lecture or talk in the mosque about the Great Kalimah, I must
go out of the mosque and visit Muslims in their houses and talk about the Great
Kalimah. When I went to visit Muslims from house to house like the Prophet
Muhammad saw did and reminded them about the Great Kalimah, I found my iman
started to increase.
At that time it did not come to my mind to visit the non-Muslim houses, because
I still believed at that time, we must first work on the Muslims before we can
work on the non-Muslims. From September 1997, I have decided to spend about an
hour or so every day in the early morning after Fajar Prayer to go and visit
every Muslim houses in all the lanes or roads in my locality area. In the
evening I will spend time in Masjid Seri Petaling to do administrative work of
Jamat Tabligh. In order to make the work of reminding the Muslims about the
Great Kalimah easy, I have developed scripts that can be used as a guide by any
Muslim when they do the work of reminding a Muslims. As my understanding about
the work started to increase the script written as a guide to remind the
Muslims
also underwent changes time by time. The script written as a guide when
reminding Muslims finally became perfect when the work of inviting the
non-Muslims to recite the Kalimah has started.
Although I was doing the work of visiting each and every Muslims in my locality
and I was reminding them about the Great Kalimah since September 1997 but, I
was
still doubtful about the level of my iman. I did experience an increase of iman
but after reaching a certain level of iman, the level of iman became stagnant
or
flattened. I was not satisfied with the level of iman that I had achieved and
I
was questioning myself, why my iman was not continually increasing? I look
again
at the Hadis and asked Allah to make me understand what should I do next. The
Hadis says, when we frequently talk to each other abundantly about the Great
Kalimah our iman become renewed. The Hadis did not mention about the increase
of
iman but only says about renewed our iman. The next question that came to me is
how to increase iman?
When I look at the Quran, there are verses that mention about iman and it seem
to me, iman has a relationship with the work of inviting people to good and
forbidding peoples from evil and such relationship is also found in Hadis.
Allah
says in the Quran with the approximate meaning, you are the best nation sent to
mankind, you enjoin people to good and you forbid people from evil and you have
iman in Allah. Prophet Muhammad saw also says with the approximate meaning, you
must forbid evil with power but if you cannot do as so, forbid evil with words
but if you cannot do as so then you forbid evil with your heart, which means
with prayers or making doa and Prophet Saw said that is the weakest level of
iman. What is ‘evils’ mention in the Quran and Hadis? According to the tafsir
of
Abdullah bin Abbas ra. whom the Prophet saw said as the best mufassirin of my
umah, the greatest evil done by men is they do not accept the plain truth that
there is no God except Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
The greatest evils done by Muslim who has accepted the Great Kalimah is they do
not convey the Great Kalimah to the non-Muslims and the second greatest evil
done by Muslim is they do not preserve their prayer where the men do not
perform
five times prayer with congregation and the women do not perform their prayers.
What is ‘goods’ mention in the Quran and Hadis? According to Abdullah ibn Abbas
ra. the greatest good done by men is to recite the Great Kalimah, I bear
witness there is no God except Allah and I bear witness Muhammad is the
messenger of Allah. The greatest good done by Muslim, is when they convey the
Great Kalimah to the non-Muslims and the second good deeds done by Muslims,
when
they perform their five times daily prayers as the Prophet saw did or asked us
to do. From the Quran and the Hadis, Allah has made me to understand the
reasons
why our iman does not continually increasing as we grow old. Now Allah has
opened the door of understanding to me which was closed to me previously. Allah
has made me to understand that to increase our iman, Muslims must convey the
Great Kalimah to the non-Muslims and to renew their iman, Muslims must
frequently remind the other Muslims about the meaning of the Great Kalimah and
to invite the Muslims to obey all the orders of Allah where the first order of
Allah is to convey the Great Kalimah to the non-Muslims and the second order is
to perform five times daily prayers.
On September 2007, I started to visit the house of the non-Muslims too, but I
only make prayers or making doa in front their houses. At that time, I am not
dare to talk to them because I do not know the script to be used when giving
dakwah to non-Muslims. On February 2008 while I was visiting a non-Muslim house
and I was just about to make the prayer in front of his house, the owner of the
house, a Hindu man came out of the house and asked me what I want? At that
point
of time, Allah taught me the script that I should use when giving dakwah to the
non-Muslims. Since that day, the work of dakwah to non-Muslims has
started CLICK. Allah has made the work of the Prophet saw to be resumed in this
world. Allah has chosen and used me to revive the work of Prophet Muhammad saw
and Allah has chosen my locality as the place where the work of the Prophet saw
was revived again in this world. That is the day, which is so memorable in my
whole lifetime. That was the day my dream became true. It was a day of joy and
happiness to me and I am sure it was also a day of happiness for the Prophet
Muhammad saw. I keep reminding my saying on that day to all my friends that
Allah has made it alive, and with this it similarly like the Prophet Muhammad
saw is alive again in this world. I also told my entire friends that, after
this
Allah will not punish the Muslims again in Malaysia and the whole world. My
dream to be able to give dakwah to non-Muslims finally has become a reality. It
is really a wonderful gift of Almighty Allah to me. Allah has bestowed me the
great present and I could never imagine myself leaving this great work of the
Prophet simply because I only want to remain as the members of the syura of the
world Tarikat Group in Malaysia. Nothing really matters to me and Insha’Allah I
will never stop this Great Prophetic work until the day I die. My journey to
reach this starting point of the work of the Prophet saw has never been easy to
me and I am sure the journey of the work of the Prophet saw itself is even
harder. InsyaAllah I will continue to follow the path that has been taken by
Muhammad saw and his companions until the day I meet Allah and gain His
pleasure. As the work of Tabligh Jamat or World Tarikat Group is only on
Muslims
as being told to me by Sheikh Abdul Wahab whose one of world syura members of
Tabligh Jamat, I have decided to stop joining Tabligh Jamat and not to become
one of the syura members of Malaysian Tabligh. My decision is final and I hope
there is no more attempt from the side of Jamat Tabligh to bring me back into
their group. Allah has given me to them for almost thirty years and when they
do
not make syukur on the blessing of Allah, then Allah took away the blessing.
I hope all the members of the World Tarikat Group particularly in Malaysia;
please do not regard me anymore as Malaysian syura members of the Tarikat
Group.
I sincerely declare in this article that I have ceased to become even the
members of Tabligh Jamat or World Tarikat Group. Do not respect and honour me
anymore as the Syura members of Tabligh Jamat, as all of you used to do before.
If you still want to respect and honour me, you have to respect and honour me
only because I am a Muslim. Allah and His Prophet saw told us to respect and
honour a person according to the level of iman and amals that the persons have
and not according to the status of the persons. If you give respect to me
because I was or still the Malaysian syura members of Tabligh Jamat, I will not
response to your respect and I will ignore you. I do not like to be associated
anymore with Tabligh Jamat and I hope all of you in Tabligh Jamat understand
this point very well.
