TENAGA NASIONAL SHOULD NOT BULLY CONSUMERS
The Sun Daily
3 November 2011

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 2, 2011): National electric supply company Tenaga Nasional
Bhd (TNB) should not bully consumers to pay hefty electricty bills by
threatening to cut their supply.

Building Management Association of Malaysia president Datuk Teo Chiang Kok said
that a large number of consumers had received hefty electricy bill after
changing metres at their premises.

"And when the consumers refused to pay the bills, TNB threaten to cut their
electricity supply," he said at a joint press conference with the Associated
Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Malaysia and the Kuala Lumpur
Selangor Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, today.

Also present were several consumers who claimed they received hefty electricity
bills after TNB replaced their metre with new digital ones.

S Venkateswaran said it was unfair for TNB to threaten to disrupt supply when
the bills were under dispute.

“It is a very inconvenient situation, not only for us but also the building
management corporations,” he said.

theSun had, on June 10 and 26, highlighted the case of Chong Sook Tak, 51, who
received a nasty shock when he received a text message from TNB informing him
of arrears amounting to RM31,819.25.
