Sultan Selangor tegur PDRM. Untuk mendapatkan keyakinan orang awam, polis perlu terlebih dahulu perbaiki kelemahan mereka – titah Sultan Selangor Sultan tells police to clean up act Malay Mail Thursday, November 24th, 2011 SHAH ALAM: To earn the public trust, the police must first get their house in order, said the Sultan of Selangor. While expressing his disappointment with certain quarters who continue to criticise and condemn the police, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah also said negative public perception on the force was partly because of the abuses and wrongdoings of certain members of the force themselves. Saying the police should not abuse their powers entrusted to them for personal gains, he stressed that a clean-up of the force was crucial if the police wanted to win back the trust and respect of the people. Citing instances of drug involvement, graft and misuse of powers, the Sultan also cautioned the force over the improper storage and handling of exhibits and evidence which may affect the outcome of criminal cases. "Loosing a small piece of evidence can make a huge difference to the punishment given to offenders when the case goes to court," said Sultan Sharafuddin at the officiating ceremony of the Selangor police headquarters here. The Sultan said mishandling of evidence would also call into question the police's credibility. However, he conceded that members of the force were only human and needed the understanding and support of the public. "The police are just like any human being. They also had feelings and put themselves in harms way," he said, while "saluting" the force for its dedication, patience and successes. Sultan Sharafuddin also advised the police to embrace technology and take steps to improve themselves through the proposed programmes under the National Key Results Areas (NKRA). "Observe what is going on nationwide, research on how to counter new crime tactic ,tools and be an all-rounder," he said. The headquarters, which started construction in 2006 was only completed in July 2009, also comprises storage rooms, centralised lockups, media rooms, transport offices, a workshop, as well as apartments and bungalows for officers. http://www.mmail.com.my/content/86545-sultan-tells-police-clean-act
