Dear all,
There should be a distinction b/w running a VoIP exchange or voice service vs. providing access to the services which are available on the websites, whatever they might be. We have a license to provide internet access and that is all what ISPs are doing. We should approach the ministry for an open access to the Internet. The open access will also include any fax or streaming video etc. services that are available on the Internet. PTA is trying to limit our licenses and in doing so they will not only hurt our revenues but Pakistan will end up with "limited Internet" rather than "Internet." Is this what MoST has envisioned for Pakistan's IT future? How do you promote technology by limiting it? If AT&T, MCI and Sprint can survive and grow in the age of VoIP without having their govt. impose such restrictions on their ISPs, why can't PTCL?
