True on the CISSP, I find that there are some additional areas of knowledge and
certification that can help:

1. Courses in criminal justice, computer systems business controls, and
computer security
2. A CISA from ISACA
3. Certification as a fraud examiner from the Association of Certified Fraud
Examiners.
4. Certification and membership in ASIS

Also, courses and certifications in system administration on various operating
systems and database products will help.

Julie,

I think Matthew hit it on the nose. Check out the web site. Very good
resource. Another trend I have been noticing is that hiring companies/managers
are looking for the CISSP designation as a requirement or strongly preferred.

Hi Julie,

The only test I have found that provides some security knowledge
testing is the CISSP exam for information security professionals.

The web site with test information is located at the following:
http://www.isc2.org. ISC^2 is a independent consortium that does the
testing. This is a ~258 question test that deals with everything from VMS
security to encryption.
