I went around and around with ISS on this issue. They still have not
provided
me with a
solution. The issue is that RS 3.2 only works with SQLServer 7.0. And, we
were
not willing to upgrade
our SQLServer to 7.0.

If you make any progress, I would be interested in your results.

Has anyone been successful with pointing the console to an SQL server?
RealSecure has no problem using an Access file, but I can't seem to
configure an SQL data source
for it to write to. The documentation is not very specific when it comes to
logging to databases.

Like you don't have information about Upsizing Acces to Oracle, i had ask
at one of my partner which is Oracle expert. here the answer. I don't have
tested the solution

- We have a CD with this utilities, for Oracle 7.1- In the Oracle's web,
www.oracle.com/download , you can find these utilities too.
- In the installation CD of Oracle Enterprise 7.3.4, it's included.
- In the installation CD of Oracle Server 8, may be.

- The name of this utility is "Wizard for mogritaion for Access" or some
think
like that.

I hope that this helps

Objet: RE: RS/SQL integration doc

Audra;

The nice thing about the MS SQL integration is that MS has a product (the
upsizing tool described in the doc) that takes an Access database and
recreates all the tables, identifies, relationships, data etc in MS SQL.
For
Oracle we would have to do this manually, unless someone knows of a tool to
upsize from Access or MS SQL to Oracle. This would mean that someone
(probably a client's Oracle DBA) would have to take the database schema and
recreate it in Oracle, probably not that difficult of a task for someone
who
has done it, and then upload the data to the new Oracle database. Again,
there may be problems with the reporting as there are in the MS SQL
integration.

Regards;

Aaron

    Aaron,
Great document - thanks! How hard would it be to write something
similar to this for Oracle? Again, I understand that we always want to use
these kind of opportunities to have Professional Services come in and do
this work - mainly because it's a custom job - and we understand the
inner-workings of RealSecure better than the customer.

                Audra:

I could not agree with you more. I know from my short
while
here at ISS that my customers
have said this and will say it as we gain bigger Enterprise
deals as we move forward. We have some
very large deals in the works with Brokerage and Banking
institutions, as well as large Insurance Co.
coming in the future. They will demand Reliability and
Scalability, and they all have very large environments
                like the customer you stated.

Subject: RealSecure DB with hooks into Oracle Database

                All,
I'm seeing more and more customers, requesting the
feature
to have RealSecure report to a SQL and/or Oracle DB. I know we are looking
far into the future with this possible enhancement - and SSD is the answer
we give today. However, with large customers purchasing several RS
Engines/Agents, Access is limited to the 1 Gig space and there is no
automatic archiving procedure among other issues.

The large customers I have requesting this feature today
include:
                Microsoft, Oracle, and E-Trade

So, many of our experienced Professional Service folks have
worked around this limitation with having pointers through MS Access to SQL
and Oracle. Is there a detailed, documented procedure we can create? (for
both SQL and Oracle?) Or even a canned professional service opportunity we
can offer the customer? I just don't want to continually reinvent the
wheel, asking all of ISS for who has sucessfully implemented across our
customers, how to do implement this, gotchas, etc.

This issue along with Automated Scanning across the
Enterprise should be somewhat of a canned procedural approach that either
the customer can follow through documentation - or better yet, Professional
Services has as a standard service engagement with the awareness of where
we
have deployed these things successfully throughout the company.

I'd be happy to compile the documentation I have on both of
these issues, and encourage everyone to complete and enhance it.

Let me know if you agree with me or not and any ideas or
solutions we can roll out to satisfy these major customer requests.
