There appears to be a new msn virus on the loose.

It appears to send a request for a picture of the person to random people on
the users contact list as an .exe file. Usually pic1234.exe or MsgSprd or
the one I received:

PIC1324(2)(1)(1)(2)(1)(2)(1)(2)(1)(1)(1).exe

It will add an entry to the registry to run on start up, easy enough to
remove.

Then sits in memory sending requests to users, the requests are send with
out the host user even knowing they are being sent. This is how it
propagates.

Here is some text from the file:

"I come in piece. My name is Jerry. ' The purpose of me is to spread.
I'm not annoying, nor dangerous. How to remove me: r 1) Click Start,
select Run. The Run dialog box pops up. x 2) Type: msconfig The System
Configuration Utility pops up. 3) Click the Startup tab at the top. In
the list, find MsgSprd, Messenger or pic1324, uncheck, press Apply"

BE on the lookout for copy cats. AS it appears to be a simple vb6
application, so vbruntimes are required.

A sample of the file is obtainable on request.

Be warned.

Paul Somers.
