IIS & SS is a very good combination if you like to live dangerously. ;-)
There are known issues related to the fact that IIS (not respecting 
Microsoft recommendations !) partially operates in kernel space and 
bypass some of the checks that SS is designed to perform. The "Windows 
IIS policy" was created specifically to address this issues disabling 
these checks. Nonetheless, in my opinion this is a workaround, not a 
really solution.

As far as I know, none of this problems arise on Solaris.
