I believe that it is best to visit Microsoft's web site and search for
their proposal e.g. dll/exe/build/registry versions/correct keys.

Regards,

Dimitris.

Hi

I guess the correct command to update the MSDE to SP3 is :
     setup upgrade=1 securitymode=sql

But , how do we verify that SP3 is already installed ?

For SP2, open a command prompt and change directories to: sql2ksp2\msde.

Thanks to ISS Technical support for that one!

I try to install the MSDE SP2 to the RS console. However, I got the
following error when I run the setup which is extracted from
SQL2KDeskSP2.exe

 "This installation package could not be opened. Verifiy that the
package

 exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to

 verifu that this ia a vialid Windows installer package."

 Should we install SP3 instead of SP2?

 Regards

 Kin

I've installed SP3 into my test environment with the following caveat:

You must open a command prompt in the patch directory (C:\sql2ksp3\MSDE)
and enter:

Setup /p /upgradesp sqlrun

If your SA password is blank, after this line you must type in:

BLANKPWD=1

If it is not blank (and you know it shouldn't be!!) after sqlrun and a
space, enter

Securitymode=1

This worked for me.

Does ISS list somewhere if it is OK (tested) to install the latest
service

pack (SP2) and patches (MS02-061) for MSDE 2000 or SQL Server 2000 to a

RealSecure console?
