RS7 was designed to be an easy upgrade over RS6. It is important to note the
underlying "intrusion detection" logic was completely redone, and is the
biggest change since RealSecure 1.0. However, from the point of view of our
customers, it is rarely more difficult than the simple XPU upgrades that you
are already familiar with.

The biggest problem has been that some customers have relied upon some of the
quirks of RealSecure 6, specifically how some signatures works. Since RS7
signatures work completely differently (protocol-analysis now instead of
pattern-match), those sorts of things are broken. Likewise, some of the
database schemas have changed to accomodate the new functionality.
