what happens when you try to restart this service (Real Secure Site Protector
Application Server Service) manually after it fails? If it starts normally then this
usually occurs because the application service is dependant on the Database service.
Check the readme file of Sp sp3 to to configure the registry setting of the
Application server so that it becomes dependant on the SQL server serice. ( i.e it
won't start unless the database starts)

If this is not your issue, then maybe because you updated jre. check the forum for
this subject "RE: [ISSForum] Java Security Problems" from Ward,Mathew.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [ISSForum] Site Protector 2.0 SP3 Installation issues
Importance: High

Hello all

I have questions regarding the Site Protector 2.0 Basic installation:

I have a Windows 2000 Server with SP4 and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 with
SP2 and SP3.

The SQL 2000 Server is running (local) and the ISS Deployment Manager is
local installed .

But It doesn't matter what my input is, every time it appears the same
error message: "HTTP connection failed. Please

make sure the name of the server is spelled correctly and that the
server is currently available". This was solved by removing the
certificate from the trusted root list.

The 2nd issue now is the application server service failed to start when
I rebooted the system because there was a java update (j2re-1_4_1)

The service error is "Could not start the Real Secure Site Protector
Application Server Service on Local Computer.

Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly"

On the deployment web page I get "Error 500" (Access via Web-Interface:
https://server1:3994/deploymentmanager/)

" The Server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete
your request. Either there server is overloaded or there wad an error in
a CGI script"

With this situation now, I can't progress with the deployment manager
set up. Kindly assist!
