The StackOverflowError catch was not reachable only through the builder recursion, so fixing that does not make it dead. createNullableWriter composes one writer per nesting level, and a deep MAP overflows inside writeTo. With only this file swapped, 2499 nested MAPs on a 1MB stack: with the catch, TableRuntimeException "nested too deeply"; without it, a bare StackOverflowError at createMapWriter. MAP only. ARRAY is capped at 255 by the DataType system, and a deep ROW overflows in create(), which was always outside the try. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
