Perhaps, although the path to the binary pants uses is exposed in no clean way.
It's easy enough to lift pants own build script for thrift here
https://github.com/pantsbuild/binaries/blob/gh-pages/build-thrift-0.9.2.sh
The more delicate part is investigating the python t est failures under 0.9.2 -
all due to changes in set/dict ordering when deserializing thrift data fwict.
