[~aromanenko] what is the status here? It look like there is some support but
not integration tests? Does this really block the release? We could just remove
the release tag, but then it won't be in the release notes. Perhaps you would
break off the last subtask and then we can resolve this so it is included in
the 2.10.0 release and release notes?
